Louis II (August 25, 1845 - June 13, 1886), nicknamed King Cygne or even the King of Fairy Contes, was King of Bavaria from 1864 until he died in 1886. He gave body to his penchant for the castles Extravagant by building three masterpieces of architecture: Linderhof, Herrenchiemsee and Neuschwanstein, a magical interpretation of the medieval fortress. He made swan, the symbol of the legend of Lohengrin, his royal emblem. This pattern is immortalised in the various castles of Louis II.
